baby room!

So excited to get the baby room going! I've got all sorts of ideas flying around my head...and speaking of flying thats the theme i'm falling in love with: Birds!

One of my favorite bible verses and most needed is in Matthew 6:25 -

"Do not worry... Look at the birds"

It seems like in this fast paced, scary world there are so many things for us to worry about in our lives. This verse is such a reminder that I was created by God with reason! With reason much bigger than the worry that I waste too much of my time with. It seems like such a simple concept...

Between Jer and I we bring too much worry into our lives - when one of us sees the other falling into that pit, we remind each other to "Look at the birds" its become a common saying for us.

I want our little girl to grow up in an environment where she can focus on loving and being loved, not with worry. So I want her to be reminded to always Look at the birds!

Here are a few of my favorite baby room finds so far:

i miss you snowboarding.

Jer and I are Olympic crazy. Jeremy a far greater amount (understatement) than I. We both get so excited every two years when we get to hear the bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum...Olympic song.

The winter Olympics have been so great to watch this year, but it has created a little bit of dismay in our household: skiing/snowboarding withdrawals. Jer is the skier, I am the snowboarder. We both LOVE to go, but living in Lubbock the last 4 years has made making it out to the slopes a little more challenging and harder to find.

This Christmas we had a trip planned to head to a certain mountain in CO and get in a quality week long skiing trip.........then there was a positive pregnancy test. We got over not getting to hit the slopes (A baby is way cooler than that anyways!) but we sure are missing it - and those dang Olympiads seem to be mocking us out there in the snow.

Go USA!!!

sick me and the computer.

Our computer came down with a virus this week, and so did I. I blame the computer for me coming down with the yucky. Well in my departure from blogging I have had an Epiphany of smell!

Smell is one of my most favoritist senses, that and taste...both of which have been tainted by the pregnancy. Usually I love adding new scents to my home, but as of late, I have gotten rid of them all! The smells that used to woo me, now send me running to the bathroom.

Finally halfway into this pregnancy I have found a smell that is soothing rather than suffocating.

Coconut Lime Verbena
Since you can't attach smells to blogs I'll do my best to translate the scent into images. Enjoy!

tuesdays

I've got nothing good to say today. I spent the day in a mostly quiet room doing benchmark testing all day...it can turn your brain into mush.

The only intelligent thought I have for this Tuesday is a joke that was told on the morning announcements - those morning jokes always start my day off well. Hope it treats your Tuesday well!

Why didn't the skeleton cross the road?

Because he had not guts!!!

Happy Monday to you! School today was very very Monday. We stayed in Tarzan last night to watch the Superbowl with some good friends, which created a late night traveling back slowly in the fog and lead to a very tired morning.

In the spirit of the morning after the big game I would like to share with you my most favorite commercial, it made me so so happy - a good 53 seconds lift up after a long cold Monday. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Did you know?

Happy Friday! It really is a happy Friday, this week has been so fun, but no doubt incredibly exhausting! My plans are to rest this weekend - call me lame, I'll agree.

Anyways did you know that on this day in 1952 the first “Don’t Walk” sign was installed in New York City . The installation of this sign was inspired by the growing number of deaths resulting from pedestrian accidents. The use of these pedestrian traffic signs are still used today in order to make streets safer.

Thank you little orange hand, you have saved many lives. I plan on walking (or doing anything) as little as possible this weekend, hope you enjoy yours as much as I will mine!

Not too much exciting today, Jeremy actually had to work until late tonight :( Guess he's growing up! We are sharing a late night ice cream cake from Marble slab to top off his birthday :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEREMY! I LOVE YOU :)

5th grade = good reads

Student teaching this week has been splendid! I am falling in love with 5th grade. I have several teaching responsibilities for my first week and one of those is starting a new book for read-a-loud's with the students.

The book that has been sugested and I will start is called Schooled - Only a few chapters into pre-reading it now, but I don't want to stop! I am anxious to see what the 5th graders perspective of this book will be too

The story is about a boy named Cap who has lived with his grandmother, Rain, on a hippie commune for his whole life. When Rain breaks her hip from falling out of a tree picking plums, Cap is sent to live with a guidance counselor and introduced to the modern world from the view of middle school.

This fun comedic book gives the harsh reality of middle school a fresh perspective. Take a trip back to your reading roots and find a good young adult novel, this one I would highly suggest.

suprise! Its NOT a boy :)

Well last week we went to the Dr for a check-up just to make sure everything was still going well after the accident. We got more than we bargained for when DR was looking at the ultrasound and called the blob a "He" They were pretty certain what they saw, but they made sure to remind us that it was still early to tell for certain.

They say that with good reason...

Today we went in for our original scheduled ultrasound, while we were waiting to hear that He looked good and healthy the DR through us for a loop and said "Its a Girl!" ... followed by silence, and then a reassuring question "Is that OK?" Our baby girl is OK, so we are fantastically-ecstatic!

After all my time devoted to the registry its now time to go and change some color schemes. I am so excited to have a little baby girl... I am especially anxious to see her pretty face...I wonder if she will look like me?!

:)

baby registry joy

I always start off my evening's with good intentions for being productive and getting to bed early...hardly ever do I succeed, but last night was an especially fun way to procrastinate bed time - I created our baby registry! Once I got started I didn't want to stop, who knew there were so many incredible baby gadgets on the market...not to mention the clothes!

Anyways here were some of my most favorite targetbaby finds!

Sooo much fun...and its a good thing, becuse there's still more to be done!
