all tuckered out.

After another week away we are back home feeling encouraged, uplifted, challenged, and exhausted!

I am still sorting through laundry and trying to get my head on straight again. Cute baby pictures and a recap of our trip to come soon!

out on the town

here, an afternoon out on the town consists of a visit to the library, the drug store, and some thrift shops all without walking more than 2 blocks. Awesome.

It was super warm out today - 90 degrees kinda warm, so we decided to soak up some rays & treat ourselves to a fountain drink and a milkshake. Dr. Pepper for me, Strawberry shake for Jer and Ry.

What a wonderful afternoon. I love Dr. Pepper. and I love my family too!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Last year on St. Patricks's day Jeremy and I went to see Micheal Flatley's Lord of the Dance .  It was the second time for both of us to see it, but you could watch the show a million times and still get goosebumps on your arms!

We aren't going to see any shows this St. Patricks day (though, I did hear that there will be a Lord of the Dance 3D in theatres this week!) But there are plenty of video's on youtube to tide us over!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope your wearing green!

ps - Jeremy reminds me every time we watch Lord of the Dance that when he was 12 he wanted to be Micheal Flatley when he grew up...I am pretty sure he still does.

no egg zone.

I think we've caught the culprit: Eggs!

This morning I fed Rylee a scrambled egg for breakfast... she's had them several times before, and she loves to eat them because of the texture.  After a little bit of playtime she went down for a nap, but it was short. Then shortly after she woke up she threw up. (I thought I was done cleaning up throw up for a while...Wrong!) She spent about an hour or so throwing up, then took a bath, took a nap and was fine.

Looking back, she also had eaten eggs the day she got sick the first time.  My detective mommy senses are telling me that the common thread here is egg.  So for now we will pass on the eggs. I guess that means no green egg's and ham for St. Patty's day.

Poor kid...

smile

I was reading an article recently talking to moms about how to take a minute and rejuvenate - and one of the quick tips was smiling & laughing. What a mood changer!

It's impossible not to smile with such a happy baby.

8 months

Already?!

Crazy hard to believe that our sweet Rylee is already 8 months old! More than ever Rylee is loving to play play play! She is in her toys, and more often in our pots, pans, Tupperware and measuring cups. She is fascinated with the different noises that things make, like her daddy's djembe, or didgeridoo, or the clanking of pots and pans.

She's a comedian and becoming very aware of the attention she is getting and how best to get the reaction she wants: smirking & playing bashful gets a laugh, arms up and fussy gets mom to run over and pick her up. She's figuring it all out & it's so much fun!

They grow so fast!

best friends

Before Rylee came along I was a little unsure of how Molly would react to a baby... all the different things I had heard about cats and babys was a little frighthening (okay, it scared me to death).  I couldn't be happier with the results. These two are total best friends - wherever Rylee is playing that is where Molly will be.

Rylee started out being fascintated with her fury coat and wiskers, and even grabbing and pulling and yanking all over her, I was super cautious and worried that Molly might turn around and bite her or who knows, but Molly doesn't do anything but lay there, or sometimes get up and walk away when she's had enough.

Rylee + Molly = BFF

All Better

Sunday was fellowship meal day at church, meaning we all bring something and share in a meal then have a short devotional following then we all head home for a nap!

Rylee was especially fussy all morning through church and then through the meal and even after, I kept telling myself it was her two new top teeth coming in, or she was just exhausted from the days activities - boy was I wrong.

Sunday evening Rylee threw up after nursing, and then again, and again, and again - She kept this up all night (really - all night long) and then through out Monday. She didn't want to nurse, or eat or do anything but sleep on her daddy's chest and be cuddled. So that's what we did (in the time we weren't trying to force pedialite or water down her)

We finally went into the Dr. on Tuesday after 24 hours and no wet diaper.  After weighing her (she had lost 11 oz.) I put a clean diaper on her.  The Dr. came in checked her all out and surprise! Wet Diaper! and another surprise, ear infection!

We started taking every opportunity to get some sort of nourishment into her mouth - a taste of a popcycle, water in her sippy cup, an eye dropper with pedialite... Tuesday night she was starting to look better and even nursed a little before bed. She slept 8 hours through the night and woke up with a smile on her face, something we hadn't seen in 2 days!

Rylee is back on antibiotics for her ear now, and her top two teeth have popped through! She is almost back to her normal aside from her appetite which is still working its way back up. We are so happy to have our happy baby back!!

thankful she is all better.

I am currently loving Noah and the Whale.  If you haven't ever heard of them take a listen.

out of hibernation

Punxsutawney had it right! It has been so wonderfully warm here this week (windy too...but I'm focusing on the positive!)

It has been so nice to take Rylee outside and get out of the house! I feel like we have been so cooped up all winter.

While I was out watering some grass...Rylee scooted herself off
of her patch of grass and found her way to a puddle of mud!

Sandals, Capri pants, and Swinging! I smell summertime.

After our morning run! (We were both tired.)

Time to bust out the flops, shorts and tank tops! Yay for warm weather!

Colorado

Our first road trip with Rylee was a cinch. She was also just 4 weeks old at the time, so she slept almost always. Now is a little bit different and being stuck in the car for twelve hours is not anybodys idea of fun. But once we finally made it to our destination (with one very fussy baby, and one very stressed out momma) we filled our bellies and were all much more pleasant.

It was a learning experience. Next time, we will travel through the night!

Friday and Saturday Jeremy and I got to go skiing, while Rylee got to hang out and be spoiled by the grandparents! Fun for all!

Our to-do lists were a little over ambitious at times...and Rylee made sure to remind us of that. But we all had a blast. Colorado air can really do a person good.
